A Reader’s BINGO – Let’s Play!

Many DBE Classrooms have begun to play book BINGO both as individual readers and as a classroom community.  Our BINGO boards provide:KidBingo

  • an opportunity to encourage reading for all DBE readers
  • motivation to read outside of our comfort zones
  • a focal point for students to share what they are reading
  • an alternative to the traditional reading log used for homework
  • a goal setting strategy that honors the reader’s choice rather than an algorithm of reading proficiency (think Magic Treehouse rather than a “level M”)
  • new opportunities for teachers and students to share their reading lives with each other

WynkoopBingoDBE Families can get in on the BINGO action – especially with an extended holiday break just around the corner.  Choose which BINGO board fits your family best and just get started!

Once you get going, share your BINGO squares and pics of your BINGO boards on Twitter @dbelibrary.

Fall Book Fair – Hooray!

Our Fall Book Fair was a huge success!!  Thanks to Mary Park and Alison Rice, our book fair co-chairs, for your all of your help.

In partnership with the University of Washington Bookstore, 25% of all book sales directly support the continued growth of our school library.  This year, Daniel Bagley Library will receive over $2000 in store credit!

Thank you to everyone who was able to support our library with purchases or with your volunteer hours.
