Many DBE Classrooms have begun to play book BINGO both as individual readers and as a classroom community. Our BINGO boards provide:
- an opportunity to encourage reading for all DBE readers
- motivation to read outside of our comfort zones
- a focal point for students to share what they are reading
- an alternative to the traditional reading log used for homework
- a goal setting strategy that honors the reader’s choice rather than an algorithm of reading proficiency (think Magic Treehouse rather than a “level M”)
- new opportunities for teachers and students to share their reading lives with each other
